You may be aware that
the school district has acknowledged the possibility of labour disruption in
elementary schools. Effective Sunday, May 10, 2015, all elementary
teachers in the province of Ontario will be in a legal strike position. This includes
elementary teachers and occasional teachers with the Ottawa-Carleton District
School Board. A strike may include any labour action including work to rule or
partial withdrawal of service, up to and including a full withdrawal of
service. A strike cannot happen unless the union provides five days
advance notice. Please note that the staff who work in the Extended Day
Program are not part of the elementary teachers' union and therefore will not
be in a legal strike position. At this time, the school district believes that the Extended Day
Program would continue to operate as usual for all students currently
registered in the program.
Regular
updates about labour relations are posted on the District website and to the
OCDSB’s Facebook and Twitter accounts(@ocdsb). In addition your Extended
Day Program supervisor will keep your school community informed. If you
have questions, please feel free to contact Eleanor Heap, Manager, Early Years
at eleanor.heap@ocdsb.ca or 613-596-8760.
